KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Documents newly obtained by WATE 6 On Your Side show the process involved with the University of Tennessee bringing in Nike for branding work as the company becomes the university’s new apparel provider.
As part of a public records request, the university sent a pamphlet explaining to UT Nike’s graphic identity group.
It shows how Nike reviews a university’s brand and makes recommendations to launch a brand identity. The document also outlines Nike’s recommendations for other universities. At Duke University, for example, multiple team logos were reduced to a single “D” and block text.
The document also asks those involved with the process to keep the development work on a need-to-know basis.Previous story:Lady Vols supporters to present petitions to school in effort to stop name change
