PIGEON FORGE (WATE) – One of the newest additions to Pigeon Forge is nearing completion. Construction on Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort began last year when officials broke ground.
WATE 6 On Your Side got a first look inside DreamMore on Wednesday. It is still an active construction site, but Dollywood officials say it is only a few months from being completed.
“It is really exciting to see it getting ready and coming to fruition,” said Amy Owenby, vice president of hospitality.

SLIDESHOW: Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort nearly done
It is part of a $300 million investment over the next decade and is a massive project with 307 guest rooms, a spa, pool and lazy river, restaurants and retail.
Dollywood officials say it is a one-stop shop.
“Our company is just so thrilled to be able to be able to offer this level of accommodations to our guests and to bring more tourism into the Smokies. That’s what it’s about for us,” said Owenby.
Their goal is to simplify things for Dollywood patrons by adding park benefits with stays at the resort, but they also say it is going to have an economic benefit, bringing more people to Sevier County and creating more jobs. The construction phase alone is adding about 2,000 jobs, and nearly 300 people will work at the completed resort.
Officials say they are hoping to bolster tourism in the area.
“It adds maybe another day to their stay here in the area which will benefit a lot of people,” said DreamMore General Manager Kevin Osborn.
“We firmly believe that high tide floats all boats, so we’re driving more tourism. The businesses in the area are benefiting. Retail is benefiting. The national park is,” said Owenby.

The concrete walls and steel beams might make it hard to imagine what it will look like, but Dollywood officials say it will showcase the beauty of the Smokies and what Dolly Parton loves about her hometown including panoramic mountain views and a three-story window in the lobby area to greet guests as they walk in.
Dollywood officials say they will release more next month about the park benefits you can get when you stay at DreamMore resort.
Dollywood itself opens for the season March 21.
