KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Cocke County Schools will be closed Wednesday, Aug. 18, after rain swept across East Tennessee on Tuesday leading to flooding in areas.

Initially, the school district said there would be a two-hour delay Wednesday in a message that was sent out on Cocke County High School’s Facebook page and on its website.

“Emergency Management Personnel are concerned with river flooding and the damage,” the post states.
