Five Area Boys Basketball Teams Head to State


KNOXVILLE (WATE) – A handful of area teams punched their tickets to the state tournament next week in Murfreesboro.

Maryville beat Dobyns-Bennett 74-58.

Grace Christian beat South Greene 70-45.

Carter beat Greeneville 85-71 behind 33 points from Jordan Bowden.

Fulton beat Elizabethton 64-50 and Oak Ridge survived a late scare from Science Hill and held on for a 55-53 win.

The State Quarterfinals schedule is as follows:

Wednesday March 11th

12:30 p.m. Oak Ridge vs. Memphis East

2:15 p.m. Maryville vs. Blackman

5:30 p.m. Grace Christian vs. Clay Co.

Thursday March 12th

3:45 p.m. Carter vs. Haywood

7:00 p.m. Fulton vs. Creek Wood
