DANDRIDGE (WATE) – A former nurse at Mountain View Youth Development Center in Dandridge plead guilty of having sexual relations with an inmate.
Rita Dalton, 41, was found guilty on six counts of having sexual contact with an inmate and seven counts of official misconduct. Dalton was in court on Monday.
Dalton was an employee at the center from January to October 2014. The Department of Children’s Services Internal Affairs Division and the Office of Child Safety’s Special Investigations Unit began investigating Dalton after receiving information about the allegations against her. After Dalton was charged, Mountain View Youth Development Center Superintendent Tommy Francis was removed from his position. The Department of Child Services for Tennessee said there was no one specific no specific allegation or investigation that prompted the change, but a series of developments.
Misty Neeley has taken over as interim-superintendent at the facility. One of her first actions was to hire an internal affairs investigator who can address issues quickly.
