GATLINBURG (WATE) – Boyne Resorts, the owners of Gatlinburg Sky Lift, said they are evaluating damage after fires in Gatlinburg.

The lift’s upper section and upper terminal were significantly damaged and a spokesperson said the viewing deck, including the gift shop, were also a total loss. The street-level building where ticket sales, offices and maintenance shop are housed stands entirely unharmed and the lift’s lower terminal were also spared, according to Boyne Resorts.Map:Gatlinburg, East Tennessee fire damage

Gatlinburg Sky Lift said they plan to reopen in mid to late spring 2017. Over the next few weeks, they said they will work to determine if they will be able to repair the chairlift.
