Kentucky starts process of removing Jefferson Davis monument

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKRN) — Construction crews have already started the process of removing the Jefferson Davis statue in Kentucky.

The statue depicts the president of the Confederate States and has been in the State Capitol since the 1930s.

Governor Andy Beshear asked the state’s Historic Properties Panel to meet and reconsider removing the monument. The panel agreed with an 11-to-1 vote.
