Whitley County, Ky., mail carrier charged with stealing mail

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (WATE) – The Whitley County, Kentucky, sheriff is warning residents to review their financial records after a mail carrier was arrested on charges of theft of mail matter.

Alexander Johnson, 24, was arrested Wednesday as part of an investigation that began in October. Deputies obtained a search warrant and found 18 items in his vehicle not addressed to him, as well as a total of six debit cards that were not in his name.

Johnson drove a white Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV and delivered mail to residents in the Highway 92E and Brown’s Creek area. If you are in this area and believe Johnson delivered your mail, you are urged to take precautions to protect your identity.

More charges against Johnson and others are possible.
