KNOXVILLE (WATE) – A Knoxville County bus driver was sentenced Thursday after investigators say she left a child in the vehicle.
Ginger Lee Doane, 41, was sentenced to supervised probation and will not be able to receive a commercial driver’s license.
Investigators believe Doane did not check to see if all children were off the bus after parking in a parking lot off Rutledge Pike.
Doane was in charge of transporting special needs students from Carter Middle School and Carter High School. A twelve-year-old student remained inside the bus, according to the report. The child has cerebral palsy and other disabilities.
The report says Doane left the child alone for five hours. The student was able to get off the bus later. Another driver spotted the child standing outside alone, say investigators.
She was convicted for reckless endangerment.Related:Knox County bus driver convicted after leaving special needs student on bus
