KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — One person is facing numerous charges after police say they fled the scene of a home invasion in the victim’s car on Saturday.
Officers responded to reports of a home invasion robbery on Fairwood Avenue near the Belle Morris community. According to Knoxville Police, when officers arrived, one person fled the area in a car belonging to the victim.
The news release stated another team of officers found the vehicle near Hall of Fame Drive after the suspect reportedly crashed on the ramp to I-40 East near James White Parkway.
Police say the suspect ran from the vehicle on foot but was soon caught by officers after a brief pursuit.
The suspect was identified as Trejhel Atkinson, 23. Atkinson has been charged with aggravated robbery, two counts of aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping and evading arrest among “numerous other charges,” according to the police.
“Outstanding work by the involved officers who quickly located and apprehended the suspect!” Knoxville Police said.
