KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A driver suffered life-threatening injuries after a crash Sunday on I-75 in Knoxville, according to Knoxville Police Department spokesperson Scott Erland. The passenger was also injured in the crash.

Erland said officers responded to a “serious” crash on I-75 North, south of Emory Road around 8:20 a.m.

A Honda SUV reportedly went off of the road and flipped into the wood line.

The female passenger was taken to the UT Medical Center with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The male driver was ejected from the vehicle and taken to the hospital with possible life-threatening injuries. Erland said, according to an update, the man was in “stable but critical condition.”

Multiple lanes were currently closed on I-75 North, south of Emory Road. All lanes are currently open.
