Officers responded to the bridge between W. Depot Avenue and W. Jackson Avenue around 3 p.m. where 35-year-old Travis Brown of Knoxville was pronounced dead at the scene. KPD said he died as a result of a gunshot.
A KPD spokesperson said detectives believe he was the victim of foul play.
Jayshawn Williams, 36, of Knoxville, has since been identified as a suspect and Homicide Unit detectives have obtained a warrant charging him with second-degree murder. Detectives are working to locate Williams, who is known to frequent the downtown Knoxville area.

The bridge was closed as homicide detectives, crime lab personnel, and medical examiners surveyed the scene. It reopened just before 6 p.m.
