The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation announced Monday that 19-year-old John Tipton, who went missing from Sevierville in January, was found dead in Knoxville. The Knoxville Police Department then confirmed that his body was pulled from the Tennessee River earlier on Monday morning.
The Sevierville Police shared that an ID belonging to Tiption was recovered from the body. He was found wearing a red shirt with jeans, according to the Sevierville Police spokesperson Bob Stahlke.
He was first reported missing on Jan. 15 when an endangered Young Adult Alert was issued on behalf of the Sevierville Police Department. He was last seen in the area of Winfield Dunn Parkway, investigators said.
Stahlke previously shared with WATE that multiple agencies have assisted the department in searching for Tipton.
“We are deeply saddened to report that 19-year-old John Tipton, missing since January 15, 2023, was found deceased this morning in Knoxville. We extend our sincere condolences, thoughts and prayers to John’s family and friends,” wrote Stahlke in a release from Monday.
