KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — One person has been charged after a 61-year-old woman was shot in East Knoxville according to the Knoxville Police Department.

KPD shared that Lakisha Richmond, 36, has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a stolen firearm.

Knoxville Police officers responded to the 300 block of McConnell Street Thursday afternoon around 5:40 p.m. after hearing gunshots in the area.

According to a post from KPD, officers found a 61-year-old woman who had been shot in the arm. The victim was taken “from the scene in stable condition” according to KPD.

Richmond is in custody and additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.
