KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Knoxville Center Mall is for sale, its current owner confirmed on Thursday.

The mall was sold to WP Glimcher in 2014, but is still being managed by its former owner Simon Malls. Glimcher confirmed it is in the process of selling the mall. Realty firm Newmark Grubb Knight Frank out of New York City is in charge of the sale.

The property is not on the public marketplace and the company is not disclosing when the mall went up for sale or even what’s next. Knoxville city leaders said they had only heard rumors about a group trying to sell the mall.Related story: At least 4 stores in Knoxville Center Mall closing
