KNOXVILLE (WATE) – There were cheers and happy tears as Hope Francis and her husband used pink smoke at their gender reveal party to tell everyone, “It’s a girl!” They had the celebration when Hope was only 15 weeks along.
Francis learned she was having a daughter during a visit to the new Babygrams Imaging Center. It is the only one of its kind in Knoxville to offer 3D, 4D and HD imaging.
“We came in 14 weeks, and she nailed it – it’s a girl – no questions asked,” said Francis.
She had to wait until her 19th week to get an ultrasound at her doctor’s office, and it proved the Babygrams fetal photography was correct. She returned to Babygrams at 20 weeks to get the best look yet at her daughter’s face.
Babygrams owner and longtime registered sonographer Carol Marksberry spent 27 years providing ultrasounds for patients like Hope in a doctor’s office. She decided there’s a need for an independent imaging center in Knoxville so that women could get more up close peeks at their babies than what most insurance companies provide.
“Everybody now just wants to see their baby, and when you go to the doctor, the insurance companies now only allow two ultrasounds,” said Marksberry.
“Carol took her time with me, she went over every little thing – all the little muscles in her arms and her legs, all that, and I loved it. She took her time,” said Francis.
Babygrams offers images for a free starting at $59 on up to $225, depending on what you want. DVDs, frameable pictures, 30 minutes of imaging time, and gender reveal are the most popular choices.
Because of the homey atmosphere at Babygrams, Marksberry has also decided to offer gender reveal parties, so she has things like these wash cloth lollipops, diaper cakes, and even onesies fashioned to look like cupcakes.
“We’ve made our studio big enough that the whole family can come in-friends, family, and just have that bonding experience,” Marksberry said.
In the meantime, Francis is already planning her next visit in just a few weeks. “It just makes me so happy to see her face!” this proud new mom said.
