KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Everyone agrees Peyton Manning had a great career playing in many great games for the Vols, Colts and Broncos, but some games and moments stick out most to some of his loyal fans.
Hayden Reed’s favorite moment was Manning’s talents off the football field after winning big games.
“My favorite moment, personally, where you know he gets up directs the band and all of that. It’s always Peyton Manning. You see 16 up there, directing the band, playing Rocky Top, 102 strong.”
Other fans list his time with the Colts as an all-time fave. Tori Kanizer reminisced about Manning and the Colts beating the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl 41 during a rainy game.
“I remember him win the Super Bowl when I was in the fifth grade. I remember just sitting in the living room with my family and just cheering him on and just going crazy when they finally won,” said Kanizer.
Longtime Vols fan Glenn Evatt says his Manning memory was a game between Tennessee and rival Alabama.
“It has to be when he ran that bootleg to beat Alabama. It had to be in his Junior or senior year,” he said.
It was a game Evatt says he’ll never forget.
“I love beating Alabama and Florida. Those are the two games I look forward to every year,” said Evatt.
The Sheriff’s last game in Super Bowl 50 was a favorite for Regina Shel,l but it’s not what he did during the game that she loves. It’s what he did when the clock hit zero.
“His speech afterwards. He was so diplomatic. He’s just a good stand up guy,” she said.
Many in East Tennessee will miss seeing Manning on the playing field. One fan also added her most favorite Manning moments were his charitable acts, the things he did for the community during his professional career.
