KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Trail races are scenic and different, which may be one reason they are becoming more popular around the country.
The Knoxville Track and Field Club is holding Wanderers’ Trail Race Saturday at 2:00 p.m. A kids race will start at 1:30 p.m. and registration is only $5.
Race Director Tony Owens said the trail is roughly four miles through the woods. He said the trail crosses hills, dales, rocks roots, streams, grassy knolls and the occasional bit of asphalt. The kids course will similarly meander through the January countryside.
This year’s race features something organizers said was previously unheard in a Treadin’ Trodden Trail race: chip timing. Organizers hope the timer will help alleviate some of the hecticness around the race finish line.
