1 dead, 2 injured in Clinton Highway crash in Knoxville

One person has died after a three-vehicle crash involving a tractor trailer on Clinton Highway in Knoxville.

The Knoxville Police Department reports the crash happened just after 11 a.m. at the intersection with Callahan Drive.

Officers say Jefferson Williford, 24, of Powell, the driver of a Volkswagen Jetta, was taken to UT Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

Steve Ratliff, 69, of Dandridge, and Monica Hatfield, 58, of Mascot, were test driving a Mercedes R350. Both were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the tractor trailer involved, Larry Breeden, 62, of Knoxville, was not hurt.

The investigation is still ongoing into the cause of the crash.
