KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Crews responded to a tanker truck fire in Knoxville Thursday morning.

The fire was reported on Knott Road at Middlebrook Pike around 7 a.m. The tank contained around 6,000 to 8,000 gallons of ethanol.

The Knoxville Fire Department says after the driver turned left onto Knott Road, flames were seen coming from the engine compartment.

The driver used an on-board extinguisher to slow down the flames.

Firefighters contained the fire. The truck received damage to the tractor portion of the rig.

The driver was transported to the hospital for minor injuries.
