2 drivers, one child suffer minor injuries in school bus accident in Powell

POWELL, Tenn. (WATE) – Rural Metro Fire Knox County responded to a school bus-versus-truck accident near the 1300 block of W. Beaver Creek Drive.

Four patients – the drivers of each vehicle, a teaching assistant and one child, were reported to have suffered minor injuries, according to RMF; officials also saying the injuries don’t appear to be serious. 

All were taken to the hospital for further evaluation. 

Bus No. 344, which serves Richard Yoakley school, is a Knox County Schools bus that is operated by Beck Bus Company. KCS spokeswoman Carly Harrington saying there were three people aboard the bus at the time of the accident: The driver, a student and a teaching assistant. 

Fire officials initially saying the driver of the truck, which apparently collided with the school bus, may have caused the crash. 

Knox County Sheriff’s Office officials were also on the scene. 

The investigation is ongoing.
