Two teenage boys were taken into juvenile custody after Hawkins County deputies say they brought a gun to Cherokee High School on Friday.
The Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy found a .38 special revolver in a video cassette box in one of the student’s backpacks. It was not loaded, but there were bullets with the gun.
Deputies say neither student had plans to use the gun. No students were threatened or harmed. The school was placed on a temporary lockdown as a precaution, which was later lifted.
Both teens were taken to the Upper East Tennessee Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
