Five people were arrested in Oak Ridge last Thursday after officers say they used counterfeit bills to pay for items in a store.
Byron Alexander, Marlon Guerrier, Taahir Ahmed Hardeman, Edward Hood and Shantavious Patrick all face charges that include criminal simulation, theft of property, criminal conspiracy, and/or criminal impersonation.
An employee of the store was able to describe the vehicle the suspects were in. Officers spotted them just a few moments later on South Tulane Avenue.
The suspects were found to be in possession of counterfeit $50 and $100 bills. Oak Ridge police say they are from the Atlanta area and may have visited other areas, including Knox County and Cleveland, Tennessee, where they may have also used counterfeit money.
