$500K judgment awarded against Isaacs in 2013 accident

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – A jury earlier this month awarded a more than $500,000 judgment against prominent Knoxville attorney Greg Isaacs stemming from a 2013 accident involving Isaacs’ Maserati and a man on a motorcycle.

The initial court complaint states defendant Brian Steffey of Powell was going northbound on Broadway in Knoxville on August 14, 2013, when Isaacs, who was also going northbound, turned into Steffey’s path without using a turn signal, hitting Steffey and his motorcycle, causing Steffey to be thrown from his bike.

Steffey said he suffered a number of injuries including back and lower leg injuries and he required multiple surgeries on his right foot.

He initially sued for more than $3 million in damages, also naming Maserati of Cincinnati in the suit. Following a three day hearing from April 6-8, a jury awarded Steffey $504,348.

“It was a simple accident as I was making a left hand turn. He was in my blind spot,” said Isaacs in a statement. “It’s unfortunate that it happened. I wish the best for Mr. Steffey and his family.”
