KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has identified the man found dead on the Holston River Wednesday in Hawkins County.

TWRA responded to the boat ramp at Christian’s Bend around 5 p.m. Wednesday where an unoccupied boat with personal belongings onboard was found nearby. Rescue crews searched the area and found 51-year-old Dennis Wayne Jenkins, of Kingsport, about 200 yards from the boat.

He was not wearing a life jacket, a TWRA release stated.

Officers said the boat didn’t appear to have been involved in a collision. His body was taken to the ETSU Quillen College of Medicine for an autopsy.
