AMR and Rural/Metro were honored Wednesday for the help they gave the Gatlinburg Fire Department during the wildfires in 2016.

The Gatlinburg Fire Department honored those men and women who helped out during and after the wildfires with a memorial coin.

One man who works with Rural/Metro says he just wanted to go out and help in any way he could and was just happy to help in their time of need.

“In this line of work you don’t get a lot of recognition. You got to get it when you can. So when someone makes the effort to say thank you and extend some type of gratitude, it behooves you to show up and accept and be grateful for their gratefulness,” said Shane Savell.

More than 25 men and women with AMR and Rural/Metro were honored at the event.
