KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The Knoxville Fire Department is battling a fire Friday afternoon at a vacant East Knoxville home.

The fire was reported just after 3 p.m. at the corner of Magnolia Avenue and Elmwood Street. Fire department spokesman Capt. D.J. Corcoran says people at a nearby gas station called 911 to report smoke coming from the roof of the home.

No one was inside and the home did not have electricity. Arson investigators are on the scene.

Magnolia Avenue is expected to be closed at the intersection with Elmwood Street until at least 4:30 p.m.WATE 6 On Your Side has a crew on the scene. Refresh this page for updates.
