Big crowds turn out for Knoxville’s St. Patrick’s Day parade

Hundreds of people lined the streets of downtown Knoxville Saturday afternoon for a St. Patrick’s Day parade.

Many people taking the time to spend time with family and have fun.

“Today is all about a fun, free, family event. It’s about supporting your city and coming out and just really having fun in a family friendly environment,” said Mindy Savage who attended the parade.

Another attendee said she brought her out-of-town family to the parade.

“Grandma and grandpa are down from Cincinnatti. It’s always nice to get the baby out and have her explore and meet new people,” said Jenna Carter.

Some parade-goers returned for another year of fun. Other people taking in the experience for the first time.

“There’s a lot of cool floats and just a lot of cool stuff, it’s really fun,” said one attendee.

“I’ve always heard that Knoxville has a big turn out for St. Patrick’s Day. So, it’s nice to actually experience it for ourselves,” said another.

Whether this is a yearly tradition or they’re trying something new, all agree, this Knoxville celebration is one they won’t forget.
