Blackhorse Brewery working to open pub on Gay Street

Local News

The Blackhorse Pub and Brewery is working to set up shop in Downtown Knoxville.

At the former home of Five-Bar on South Gay Street, an application for a beer permit by Blackhorse hangs in the window. Operators of Blackhorse say they’re hoping to open up on Gay Street before football season.

No word on the status of the current Western Plaza Blackhorse location.

WATE 6 On Your Side has learned that the production site for the brewery is being moved to Alcoa later this summer, with work on that site starting right now.

Blackhorse began as a pub in Clarksville, Tennessee in 1992. It opened here in 1999, but closed in 2002 to concentrate on their flagship brewery in Middle Tennessee. The owners returned to Knoxville in 2013.

We’ll keep following this project and update the story with any new details.
