Carjacking, shooting suspects nabbed by police

Two men are now in police custody following an early morning incident at Spring Park on Loves Creek.

According to the Knoxville Police Department, around 4 a.m. Friday, a male victim was held at gunpoint by a white male and black male suspect before he was able to flee from them on foot.  

One of the suspects shot at the victim as he fled.  

The victim’s stolen vehicle and the suspects’ descriptions were immediately broadcast to all officers.

Within 20 minutes West District KPD officers located the vehicle behind America’s Best Value Inn at 5201 Family Inn Drive.  

Both suspects fled on foot.  

The first suspect, 22-year-old Darrell Quarterman, was immediately apprehended.  Quarterman was in possession of a firearm.  

The second suspect, 27-year-old Darrell Arden, was located in the crawl space of 5104 Wilford Road and was apprehended without incident.  

Another firearm was located from the stolen 2007 Ford Edge. 

Quarterman is being held on a $26,500 bond for carjacking, possession of firearm by a prohibited person, evading arrest and possession of drug parapheranlia charges. 

Arden is being held on a $57,500 bond and is charged for carjacking, felon in possession of a weapon, evading arrest, and aggravated assault.
