Rep. Tim Burchett stopped by the WATE 6 On Your Side and Greystone studios to speak about ending the government shutdown Friday as Congress was putting votes to a bill that would reopen and fund the government through Feb. 15.
Congressman Burchett, who represents the 2nd district of Tennessee with the U.S. House of Representatives, voted Friday on the short-term bill to reopen and fund the government after President Trump announced a deal between lawmakers and himself.
The Senate passed the short-term spending bill that will reopen and fund the government through Feb. 15. The House was expected to announce the results of its lawmakers’ votes Friday evening.
The partial government shutdown is the longest in U.S. history, running up to 35 days.
