Construction is set to begin on a new building at the Little Ponderosa Zoo.
The zoo tweeted Thursday that materials their building had arrived on a flatbed truck.
“A long awaited day,” read the tweet.
The zoo, located in Clinton, is a nonprofit zoo and rescue facility for exotic animals. It was ravaged by a fire in December that killed numerous animals.
The new facility will be almost 6,000 square feet. The building will house the animals displaced by the fire. There will also be a vet clinic inside. The hope is to open it to the public in July.
Donations poured in after the fire. The Little Ponderosa Zoo said that money went toward the new building, replacing supplies and other needs.
