Crews respond to overnight West Knoxville apartment fire

Local News

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) Knoxville fire crews battled an apartment fire in West Knoxville early Thursday.

We’re told the flames broke out around 2:30 A.M. Thursday at the Retreat at West Hills apartments.
Firefighters arriving to find tenants evacuating one of the buildings. After helping make sure all 20 units were clear, crews found a bathroom vent fan burning which ignited part of the attic in an upstairs unit.

The fire was quickly contained and no injuries are being reported.

The Knoxville Fire Department implores it’s always a good idea to clean those bathroom fans regularly to avoid build-up that can create friction and heat possibly sparking a fire.
