Dad asks Knoxville police shooting suspect to surrender

Local News

The father of the man on the run Friday after being accused of shooting a Knoxville police officer is asking him to turn himself in.

Ronnie Lucas Wilson was added to TBI’s Most Wanted list. The officer injured, Officer Jay Williams, was hit in the shoulder but he is out of the hospital.

Police on Friday also said a woman with him, Kristin Dense King, may be in danger.

Wilson’s father, Ronnie Wilson, said officers came to his house on Thursday night to ask questions. He calls his son Lucas. Ronnie Wilson said he has not been in touch with Lucas Wilson since the shooting. On Friday, he urged Lucas Wilson to turn himself in.

“Work through this thing and work it out. You can’t run forever, Lucas,” he said.

Lucas Wilson has an extensive list of criminal charges against him over the years. Knoxville police was already familiar with him before Thursday because he had an outstanding warrant for aggravated assault.

“Evidently, he thought that was his only way out,” said his father.

Knoxville police said Lucas used a shot gun and fired multiple times. Officer Williams was hit while conducting a traffic stop for a speeding violation.

“Carrying it around and I’m the father of something that happened like this. I feel partly responsible myself,” said Ronnie Wilson.

He said he’s thinking about the officer and his family. He’s thankful officer Williams is okay.

Police said Ronnie Lucas Wilson is armed and dangerous. If you see him or King, call 1-800-TBI-FIND or 911.
