KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) – A driver was cited after a crash Friday morning that caused his vehicle to leave the eastbound lanes of Interstate 640 and end up amongst the brush on the other side of a creek.
The Knoxville Police Department says the crash was reported around 8:30 a.m. on I-640 near Broadway. The car was going eastbound at a high rate of speed, lost control and left the roadway. It eventually ended up on the other side of White’s Creek.
Police say the driver was cited for speeding, failure to maintain lane lines and faulty equipment.
Officers wanted to take the opportunity to remind drivers that speed, wet road conditions and insufficient tire treat can be a very dangerous combination.
