Knoxville Police Department officers investigated a stabbing incident at the Circle Inn Apartment Complex on North Fourth Avenue Thursday night in which they believe drugs were involved.

One man suffered several minor lacerations to his neck and upper body and was taken to UT Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The suspect has been arrested after fleeing from police.

KPD says after 9:30 p.m. Thursday, they responded to a report of a stabbing that occurred inside an apartment unit after a verbal disturbance. When police arrived on the scene, they quickly located one man who had been injured and the suspect had already fled.

Officers located the suspect several blocks away within minutes and placed him in custody without incident. The suspect was transferred to KPD’s Safety Building for questioning.

“The use of illegal narcotics appears to have been a significant factor to the incident,” KPD Lt. Brian Bush stated in the media release on the incident. “Investigators and forensic technicians responded to the scene and are continuing the investigation at this time.”
