The Knoxville Fire Department (KFD) responded to a house fire in East Knoxville overnight.

The fire took place on Sunset Avenue where a neighbor called 9-1-1 to report the flames around 3 AM.

KFD arrived to find heavy smoke coming from a single story home; and attempted to get inside but was unsuccessful due to the heavy fire.

The 27 firefighters and personnel on scene were able to get the fire under control about an hour later.

No one was home at the time of the fire, and KFD reports that the home is a total loss.

KFD is investigating the fire, however no cause is known at this time, and no injuries have been reported.
