East Tennesseans honor law enforcement on Back the Blue Day

(WATE) — Many gave thanks to law enforcement Tuesday on Back the Blue Day.

The day was created after five officers died in an ambush attack in Dallas, Texas.

A group in Jefferson County gave gift bags to the sheriff’s department.

The City of Newport asked residents to deliver cards, bottled water, pre-packaged snacks and more to law enforcement agencies.

Beautifully Designed, a woman’s Bible study delivered food to the Knoxville City County Building at 5:30 p.m.

The group also brought refreshments to the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office earlier in the day.
