The fifth highest jackpot in the Mega Millions game history brought last minute hopefuls to gas stations and grocery stores to try their luck.
The over half a billion dollar jackpot went to $522 million at the time of drawing.
“America is all about taking chances, if you never take a chance. You’ll never have anything,” said Buck Rogers, who only buys tickets when the jackpot is big enough.
Rogers says he has a plan when comes to picking his numbers: all birthdays of important people in his life.
“I would be happy to win just a million. That’s a lot of money, you can really change your life with that,” said Brenda Bradford, also buying a Mega Millions ticket.
Bradford said even taking the lump sum payout of $308 million would be more than enough. She said she wished more people could win, she’d be happy to share.
The winning numbers were 1, 2, 4, 19 and 29 with a Mega ball of 20.
