Electric scooter companies get OK for Knoxville

Local News

Get ready, electric scooter companies are coming to Knoxville.

The Knoxville City Council voted Tuesday night to allow electric scooter companies to operate.

Communities around the country have been working to adapt and set rules as scooter operators popped up. Now, Knoxville is no exception.

Two companies are currently signed up with the city: VeoRide and Zagster

Zagster is also the company behind the Pace Bicycle sharing program that the city already allows for operation.

“It’s a very exciting thing that we’re getting ready to launch on now,” said Visit Knoxville President Kim Bumpas. “I think it will benefit the community…. it’s another way for visitors to explore Knoxville and see it from a different angle.”

Part of the vote included the execution of the agreement with the scooter companies.
