Expansion to Knoxville home for single moms opens

Local News

The Restoration House opened the expansion of its new homes for single moms on Wednesday.

The Village is in West Knoxville on Village Place Way. After eight months of construction, Restoration House held a ribbon cutting for phase two of the project.

It’s a 24-unit community for low-income single mother families in West Knoxville. Restoration House says over the next 10 years, the Village could help as many as 160 families, saving the community more than $2.7 million in government services.

“We believe that no one should have to go at it alone. We want people to learn how to take care of each other to live in a healthy neighborhood, to live in a community where they feel support,” said Mandy Watson with Restoration House.

WATE 6 On Your Side first covered Restoration House in 2012 when the Watson family got help from the ABC series Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
