A Maynardville man went into surgery Tuesday to receive his son’s kidney. That son, Nathan Davis, was killed in a car wreck last week – but not before making the decision to be an organ donor.
Nathan’s life was cut way too short, but his family says they’re proud that his giving heart was put on display even after his death.

His decision is saving several lives this week, including the life of his father – who just early Tuesday afternoon, came out of a successful kidney transplant surgery.
“We don’t have him here but we know where he’s at,” said Luther Davis. “I’m excited to get it done. Of course I feel I’d rather have him here beside me and both going down there, a living donor, that’s not the case. But he saved at least four people last night.”
We’re told Nathan’s heart, liver and both of his kidneys were approved for organ donations.
