Funeral service planned for deadly Chapman Highway crash victim, Pierce Kennedy Corcoran

A funeral service has been planned for the victim of the deadly Chapman Highway crash that occurred on Dec. 29.

Pierce Kennedy Corcoran, 22, is described in his obituary as “a brilliant young man full of more faith, perseverance and more love than is seen in men twice his age. In his 22 years, he tried his hand at every sport possible, developing a love of golf, soccer, tennis and running 2 marathons in 2017.” 

Corcoran was born Aug. 4, 1996 in Knoxville, Tenn. He is the son of Knoxville Fire Department Captain and public information officer DJ Corcoran, a longtime friend of WATE 6 On Your Side. 

The services honoring Corcoran’s life will be held Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at Central Baptist Church of Fountain City with a funeral service to follow at 8:00 p.m. with Dr. Tony Pointer officiating.

Family and friends will meet at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Stevens Mortuary to go in procession to Greenwood Cemetery for a 3:00 p.m. graveside service and interment.

The driver alleged to have caused the crash is in custody and was charged with criminally negligent homicide, no driver’s license, no proof of insurance/financial responsibility. He was also being held on immigration violation charges.
