Gatlinburg celebrating Earth Day with Smokies cleanup contest

Local News

You have a chance to help keep the Smokies beautiful and get a little free pizza in the process this Earth Day.

The city of Gatlinburg is planning a clean-up on the Spur in honor of Earth Day. The Spur is the stretch of road between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. The city is partnering with other organizations to pick up trash along there Tuesday morning.

If you want to help, meet organizers at the welcome center on the spur at 9 a.m. Remember to bring a pair of gloves.

To add a little competition to this year’s clean up, organizers are offering a pizza party to the team that can pick up the most litter.

They’ll also have an Earth Day 5K on Friday.
