Gov. Lee signs bill allowing alcohol sales in college sports venues

Local News

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) – Gov. Bill Lee signed a bill into law that allows alcohol sales at different sports venues, including at the University of Tennessee.

The law allows for alcohol sales at places like the Thompson-Boling Arena, just not while sporting events are going on.

Southeastern Conference rules still prevent alcohol from being sold during games, except in private areas like skyboxes.

A spokesperson for UT saying this change will help “promote tourism and economic development.”
