Greene County deputies seek escaped inmate

GREENEVILLE (WJHL) – The Greene County Sheriff’s Department is looking for an inmate who walked away from a commodity distribution Wednesday afternoon.

Deputies say Tommy Dean Nelson, 26, was distributing food and commodities on Bernard Avenue at a local recreation center. He escaped the center around 1:35 p.m.

Sheriff’s department describe Nelson as a white man, who stands around five feet and seven inches and weighs 155 pounds.

According to the sheriff’s office, Nelson was in jail for drug charges, resisting arrest, and violation of probation. He was scheduled for release on January 27.
