KINGSTON (WATE) – Prosecutors in District Attorney General Russell Johnson’s Criminal Court Division said they obtained a conviction against a Harriman man charged with a violent sexual offense performed on a four-year-old child.
On November 16, Shawn D. McDavid, 32, was convicted of aggravated sexual battery. Under the terms of the plea agreement, he was sentenced to five years with the Tennessee Department of Corrections, a lifetime on the sexual offender registry and he will be required to submit to community supervision for life.
“The successful prosecution of this case was possible because of the thorough and professional investigation performed by Detective Greg Scalf of the Roane County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the courage of a four-year-old child and that of her family. Roane County is a safer place because of these efforts,” said Assistant District Attorney General Lauren Bennett, who prosecuted McDavid.
