HARRIMAN (WATE) – A 15-year-old boy is accused of shooting and killing a member of the U.S. Army stationed in Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
District Attorney General Russell Johnson said the shooting happened Sunday at around 7:35 p.m. at a home on Byrd Avenue in Harriman. Marstratton Gordon, 23, was shot and killed.
According to a preliminary investigation by the Harriman Police Department, Gordon was between deployments and on leave visiting his girlfriend at the home on Byrd Avenue when there was a domestic altercation that led to a 15-year-old shooting and killing him with a single shot from a handgun. Investigators said an autopsy is being conduct at University of Tennessee Regional Forensics Center to determine an exact cause of death.
“That would be the last thing I’d expect to happen,” said Richard Hunt, a neighbor who lives on Byrd Avenue.
Hunt knows the 15-year-old boy and says he’s a good kid.
“The young man, the young teenager, he was always offering to help me if I needed any help doing anything. Just real friendly, big old smile, very articulate,” said Hunt.
Harriman Police Department is conducting the investigation with the help of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and 9th District Attorney General’s Office.
