Hospital safety & quality ratings released

Local News

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) – A national nonprofit released this spring’s hospital ratings.

The Leapfrog Group issued the grades to hospitals based on safety and quality, the nonprofit saying its “Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is a public service provided by The Leapfrog Group, an independent nonprofit organization committed to driving quality, safety, and transparency in the U.S. health system.”

The good news – there are no failing hospitals in our East Tennessee region.

Four hospitals aced their rankings, including the University of Tennessee Medical Center, which is the only Level-1 Trauma Center in East Tennessee. UT Medical has upheld that score for the last three years.

Also scoring an A- were facilities Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, Fort Loudon Medical Center in Lenoir City, and the Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare Center.
