I-75 reopens after tanker overturns spilling 8,500 gallons of gas

Local News

UPDATE: All lanes are open on I-75 in Campbell County where a tractor-trailer overturned and spilled 8,500 gallons of gasoline, a Tennessee Department of Transportation spokesman said early Saturday.

Friday evening, Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) reported an overturned tractor-trailer crash that caused lane closures at mile marker 134 on I-75 North.

TDOT later tweeting out that the right lane remained closed, and drivers would see long-term closure as the tanker was breached, spilling thousands of gallons of gasoline.

“This will require drilling and pumping off 8500 gallons of gasoline,” TDOT spokesperson Mark Nagi tweeted.

The cause of the accident was unknown as of 11:15 p.m. Friday.

The investigation was ongoing.
